Applied online and got a call to set up an interview about a week after applying. Set up an in-person interview with a managing director and a transaction director. They were polite but the interview was...weird.
There isn't really any analytics to the job, its more like reaching out to a potential client base to see if they want to buy businesses. Deal originations are done by a team in Florida. The "M&A" analyst role is to call until the businesses are sold.
I tried to emphasize my excel and fund management skill but I think they're really just looking for a marketing person.
