      Teller Interview

      28 Nov 2011
      Anonymous employee
      Miami, FL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience

      Application

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bank of America (Miami, FL) in May 2009

      Interview

I got my interview through an Employee Referral, but landed the job after surviving an interview/hiring obstacle course. The first interview is over the phone. It will most likely be a quick 10 minute conversation and they will let you know at the end of it whether or not they are interested in considering you for the position. After this you will be part of a group interview. This is by far the most important part of the hiring process and how you conduct yourself here will determine whether or not you get the job. If I remember correctly the group interview will take a few hours, like 2 or 3. And they want you to smile and appear comfortable. They want you to look approachable and pleasant, NOT serious. As far as the group interview goes, its really important that you participate and speak when you have a chance. Make sure the Recruiter conducting the interview notices you out of the group. (There's about 10 people) Don't be afraid to answer whatever question the recruiter may have. There's going to be a point where they'll ask everyone to stand up one by one and give a reason why they would be good for bank of america. Try to go first if its possible, it'll stand out in the recruiter's mind. Say whatever it is you feel is correct, and try to emphasize things like, I work well in teams, and I have 5 years customer service and cash handling experience. I feel that Bank of America has done alot to stay ahead of its competitors and it would be an amazing opportunity to work for such a successful company. blah blah blah. Then the recruiter is going to show some videos about what its like working at bank of america and ask questions on the videos. Just don't be afraid to talk, remember to emphasize your work experience as it relates to being a teller (cash handling, customer service, working in teams... sales experience is a plus! they love it if you can say that you have worked in sales before, or worked on commission). The recruiter might ask you to sell them something they have on their desk, in front of everyone. If they ask you to try and sell them a stapler, just say something like, "the reason you need this stapler is that no matter how big your stack of paper is, it gives you a perfect staple 100% of the time." (or if its scissors, it always cuts in a perfectly straight line. if its a pen, it never runs out of ink) Whatever it might be, just be creative and speak with confidence like you believe in what you are saying. There's gonna be 10 people all applying for a teller position, but they are all at different locations, so they wont be for the same exact position. You'll receive an email later that night letting you know you have an interview at a certain branch in a few days. After you pass the group interview, they will send you out to one or two branches that are hiring and you will interview with the Branch manager. You getting the position depends on the impression you leave on the Manager. Just relax, be yourself, and answer the questions honestly and the Manager should feel like they're making a good decision by hiring you. Bank of America is a great place to work, two weeks paid vacation, paid sick days, full medical and dental insurance, they pay up to $5,000 of your tuition per semester.
