Recruiter reaches out via Social Media and is well aware my current compensation is 20% higher then what the position is priced at and commuting time is 2x-3x longer then where I am currently employed. Encourages me to send resume to hiring manager to see where it goes. Immediately hiring manager's wants to schedule interview. Meet with two people (schedule 30 min each) and interviewed was great (went 30 minutes over). I can tell my interviewers were swamped with work and needed all the competent help they can get. This was a great interview I really liked what we discussed and I knew they saw me my skills as a value add they desperately needed. I literally checked many requirements the position demands and then some. Within 3 hours they want to schedule a final round. Meet with 3 people one week later, HR director, and two higher up the chain individuals.
Interview with HR Director went well. Typical HR interview about company and corporate culture etc. Informs me hybrid incorporates fridays from home and 30 allotted work from home days. Not a fan of this even if you factor vacation and holidays there's about 12 week your working 4 days in the office.
Meeting with 2 senior professional goes relatively well not as great as my first two interviewer. However, interview felt rushed and my last interviewer had to step away twice because of their dog barking. Like, seriously I made sure my home and surroundings were secure to dedicate full attention and I cant get 30 minutes of uninterrupted time from a senior professional. This speaks volume of the type of person/environment I would be around. I left thinking I I did great round 1 and did fine in round 2. That should warrant a decision from them within 1-5 business days, considering how fast they were to interview me.
Two weeks go by I do not hear back from them until I finally decide to reach out to HR. Within the hour the representative emails back and states they have gone with another candidate. They were never going to email me back to let me know.
Some take aways for those interviewing:
Positives- Gowing company, profiable, reasonable compensation and benefits.
Negatives: Always ask why the position is vacant. In this instance several employees left as they claim due to the "great resignation", which i found was untrue, (was due to hybrid model company adopted) due to the company not conforming to 60% hybrid schedule and flexible working schedule if needed. Especially when office requires significant travel and by automobile. Employees do not want to track hybid day! This is micro managing.
Overall Opinion - Company has angered many employees with hybrid schedule, location is an issue as they can't attract talent willing to travel to New Hampton, would not entertain an offer to me as I was way out of their budget, impression is company micro manages many aspects of their employees (work, scheduling, etc). I could never considering working for this of company. The commuting alone would of set me back $5k+ annually. Why waste a candidate's time if your not serious about engaging with them in all aspects of the interview.
