I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BOLDSCIENCE (London, England) in Jun 2024
Interview
The job ad didn't specify a salary so I enquired what it might be, didn't want to apply and waste everyone's time if it was not going to work out. The company website didn't give away much either about the product(s) they were building.
The recruiter replied telling me the engineering lead liked my profile and asked me to interview, but didn't answer my initial question. At the time I was away and wasn't able to reply but the recruiter called me several times chasing.
We eventually made a time for me to speak with the engineering lead and on the whole I felt the conversation went well. I suggested I show him the current codebase I'm working on as it would give a good indication of my skillset and how I problem solve. Instead he asked me to do a "one evening" dev task.
Despite having very little time, before a family holiday, I managed to do the task. I was clear with the recruiter I hadn't a lot of time and so if they felt I hadn't shown one area enough I'd be happy to address it.
What proceeded was then a complete ghosting. No answering messages, emails or calls for almost 2 weeks.
Eventually I received a call from the recruiter with only 2 points of "technical" feedback that were both factually incorrect. I asked him to clarify this with the team as since they had been so pushy initially and I had given up my time I at least deserved some quality feedback. Once again, complete radio silence.
Honestly feel like I dodged a bullet with Bold if this is their company culture. If you're a thinking of applying my advice is avoid, avoid, avoid.
