I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Axiom Zen (Vancouver, BC) in Jun 2016
Interview
- A 45 minutes on-site interview.
- A 8-10 hours take-home assignment
- An hour interview with a team member
- A two hour on-site coding assignment
I am writing this review to warn all the applicants. Their process is not straight forward and is not what they claim to be. Initially one feels that they have a google-type hiring process, i.e. they hire anyone that is good. But that's absolutely wrong. I myself and a number of software engineers found that even after passing all the interviews and having a strong "yes" response from the interviewer (engineers who are interviewing), the company doesn't hire necessarily. So please be careful. The interview may take 2 full days of your time and the result does not depend on your performance. So if you have time do it, otherwise it's a waste of time.
To AxiomZen: please be ethical, please. Software engineers' time is valuable.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry that our unorthodox process left you with false expectations and the feeling that your time was not well-invested.
Our processes are flexible and exploratory by default; we ponder each step and make group decisions about whether to move forward and how. We take into account not only technical skills but a mutual cultural fit and whether we are the right environment for a candidate. A lot of time and resources are invested looking for talent across the world – the goal is not to waste anyone’s time, but to make sure we are a fit for each other.
We are sorry that you got the feeling that we were unclear about our hiring needs, or that our feedback was not useful enough; we are always iterating on our practices to be better every day. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Best of luck!
