I applied through other source. I interviewed at Autolomous (London, England) in May 2026
Interview
I went through a six-stage interview process over about six weeks:
1) Initial screening call with the Talent Manager (30 minutes)
2) Interview with the CTO and COO (30 minutes)
3) Technical take-home task
4) Take-home follow-up with the CTO and a Senior Software Developer (1 hour)
5) Office visit to meet the CTO and several other Software Developers (1 hour)
6) Personal presentation to the CEO, COO, and CTO, followed by non-technical questions — job offer at the end of the same session (1 hour)
The Talent Manager was friendly, supportive, and kept me updated throughout. A smart dress code was expected at all stages.
Everyone I met was generous with their time and genuinely interested in the conversation, including taking the time to answer my own questions properly rather than rushing them at the end.
There's a clear emphasis on cultural fit and motivation alongside technical capability. The technical take-home and follow-up were focused and reasonable in scope; the later stages were much more about who you are and why you want to be there.
The process is thorough and takes time, so it suits candidates who want to find the right fit rather than the fastest hire. If you go in expecting a fast turnaround you may find it long; if you go in expecting to be evaluated genuinely on both sides, the length is well-earned.
CEO arrived late, criticised my answer as “terrible,” and ended the interview early. CEOs set culture; this reflected poorly. In hindsight, it revealed the kind of people I’d be working with.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Autolomous (Phoenix, AZ) in Mar 2026
Interview
Contacted by a recruiter to apply in Feb 2026. The initial remote interview with the recruiter was informative and professional, and it was forwarded to the next round. The next interview was scheduled quickly in Phoenix, AZ, due to visiting stakeholders. Casual setting discussion about the company and the CGT landscape with a group of executives before breaking off and having further discussions individually. Effective and informative.
