I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at AstraZeneca in Dec 2021
Interview
30 minute initial screening
3-4 hour virtual interview. Includes 1hr presentation,
HR interview and 2 technical interviews
The HR interview was bizarre. I was quoted AstraZeneca values - corporate jargon - then asked various questions like ‘how have you utilised your network to solve a problem’. I was given no opportunity to ask any questions myself.
The technical interviews were like an exam - not unlike my PhD viva. I was asked what the definition of certain things were, how things worked. I was given problem solving questions. I was asked to interpret figures.
The whole process came across as academics trying to be corporate. The brief for my presentation was ‘an example of how you’ve used an analysis to drive actionable insights’ . Just ask to present a previous project instead of using business jargon, it’s pretentious.
Then to top it all off I never heard from them again. Not even a template rejection email. Considering they have their own HR department it’s down right lazy and inexcusable
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How have you utilised your network to solve a problem
I applied online, and heard back within two days from the hiring manager. Then had an interview with them to discuss the position and group, as well as my background, including some technical questions.
