a 1:1 interview with the hiring manager. it was a conversation and all the questions weren't quite clear what they wanted to know. explained process and expected a follow-up interview that never materialized
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Aravo (Portland, OR) in Jun 2024
Interview
It was an on-site interview, and three people were present for the first round. They asked a wide range of questions, covering almost everything. At one point, they pulled up their own website and asked me to explore it and suggest improvements.
Since I had never seen the website before, it was difficult to assess it critically or propose meaningful changes on the spot.

I applied online. I interviewed at Aravo in Dec 2024
Interview
The recruiter was very clear about the process which was nice. They record part of the initial interview so a more senior person doesn’t have to be bothered with talking to multiple candidates I suppose. Recruiter said they would followup. They never did. Reached out twice over a 1 month span, still no response. Reached out to the hiring manager. No response. Finally went to the top and reached out to the CEO who responded in a matter of hours on the weekend. Hiring manager followed suit a day later. One can imagine why.
It shouldn’t ever take this kind of effort by a candidate to get clarity on a role. It’s also strange that they record you. I wasn’t prepared for that and I feel it made the interview fall flat.
