I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Approachable Geek
Interview
The recruiter reached out to me through LinkedIn at first. They invited me to the first round of interviews which are using a third-party platform. I had to record myself and had a couple of chances to re-record. And they had 8 questions in total.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What is a great design? How do you think a design process should begin? How would you describe your working style? Describe a difficult task you were faced with and how you addressed it.
I applied online. I interviewed at Approachable Geek
Interview
A video interview assignment was sent. It took about 30 minutes to complete. Some questions had a two minute limit and some three. Questions like - why do you want to work here? What is your design process. Afterwards was sent a generic email informing me I didn't make the cut. When I followed up for feedback with the co-founder and person who set up the interview Bruce, I was ignored. It's unfortunate when UX/UI teams which pride themselves empathy toward users show none during the interview process after asking the applicants to invest time and effort into tasks and interviews. This job process was the first time I interacted with Approachable Geek and has negatively impacted my perception of them.
Thank you for your feedback, this particular hiring process had some complications, generally we try to be very responsive. We have since gone back and responded to all the requests for feedback from the early rounds we received. We know it takes a lot of time and effort to go through interviews, and appreciate everyone who takes the time to apply. Hopefully the feedback ends up being helpful in your job search.
