I have a registered disability and was pleased to see that Anglian Water stated on the job ad that it has a good inclusion policy, including the ability for candidates to request reasonable adjustments for the application process. I applied, was offered an interview, so contacted the recruitment team to request a very common and well-accepted reasonable adjustment that helps level the playing field for my disability; the reasonable adjustment wouldn't have cost anything and was easy to implement. Unfortunately, the recruitment team said this wasn't possible. I then had to undertake the interview without my reasonable adjustment, which put me at a distinct disadvantage compared with able candidates, which meant I wasn't able to perform at my best at the interview. I was then ghosted for a month until finally I got a rejection without any feedback. I came away feeling that this company does not actually want disabled people working there.
It was a 2 stage interview process, both stages were in-person. For the first stage I was sent 5-6 competency based questions to prepare ahead of time and was allowed to bring along jottings I may have made earlier.
The 2nd stage was a presentation followed by questions from the interviewers
I applied online. I interviewed at Anglian Water in Sept 2025
