      Software Developer Intern Interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Almabase (Bengaluru) in Dec 2025

      Interview

I applied online and the interview process consisted of three rounds. The first round was a technical interview focused on problem solving and coding. The problem was based on a real-world scenario rather than a typical LeetCode-style question, and I was required to write code and explain my approach. The interviewer also asked a few questions related to basic object-oriented programming concepts and computer networks. During the discussion, the interviewer also explained the company’s product, its vision, and how the organization delivers value to its customers. After clearing the first round, the second round focused on system design and topics related to my resume. I was asked to design a database schema involving multiple tables and explain how it would function in a practical scenario. I also discussed how the schema could be optimized and modified to support higher demand and additional features. As part of the exercise, I was asked to implement the schema in Django by writing models based on the design I had proposed. The final round was an HR discussion conducted by three interviewers. The conversation focused on my background, career goals, and expectations from the company, along with what the organization expects from employees in terms of growth, collaboration, and contribution. One aspect of the process that stood out to me was the communication from the HR team. Before and after each round, the HR representative connected with me over a call to explain what to expect in the next stage and to check in on how the previous round went. This made the entire process feel very organized and professional. Another memorable part of the experience was how the final result was communicated. I was informed about the offer through a video call where the team presented a short presentation explaining what they liked about my profile and performance during the interview process. They congratulated me and welcomed me to the team, which made the moment very memorable and overwhelming in a positive way. Overall, the interview experience was well structured and smooth. After completing all three rounds, I was offered the position of Software Engineer Intern for a six-month internship.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Almabase in Oct 2025

      Interview

I applied for the Software Development Engineer Intern role at Almabase through LinkedIn in October. Around 10–15 days after applying, I received a call from the recruiting team asking me to complete a Django-based project assignment within 48 hours. I was able to complete and submit the assignment within 24 hours. Shortly after submitting it, I received confirmation that my submission had been received and that it would be reviewed before scheduling the next round. The next day, I received an invitation for the first round, which was the Assignment Discussion Round. In this round, the interviewer asked questions related to Python and Django fundamentals and discussed the approach I used while completing the assignment. The discussion focused on understanding my thought process and the decisions I made while building the solution. The second round was scheduled the following day and was the Role Fitment Round. This round focused more on low-level design and problem-solving. The interviewer picked one of the projects from my resume and asked how I would design and implement a new feature for it. The discussion revolved around how I approached the problem, how the system could be structured, and how the feature could integrate with the existing architecture. The third round was the Bar Raiser Round, where the interviewer evaluated my technical understanding, problem-solving approach, and how I think through different scenarios when working on technical challenges. The final round was the Culture Round, which consisted of situational and behavioral questions aimed at understanding my work style, mindset, and how I respond to different workplace situations. One thing that stood out during the process was the communication and responsiveness from the recruiting team. The interview rounds were scheduled quickly, often on consecutive days, and I was given the flexibility to choose interview slots based on my availability. The interviewers were knowledgeable and the discussions were engaging. Overall, the process consisted of a project assignment followed by four interview rounds. The entire experience felt well structured and smooth. Kudos to the recruiting and backbone teams for keeping the interview and onboarding process organized and welcoming.
