I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Allstate in Oct 2021
Interview
First interview with HR
Second interview with a manager.
The worst experience was the interview. A manager, without introducing himself and the introduction to the job and the team, asked only a few vague questions and ended the meeting quickly without answering my questions.
Another team member who was scheduled to be interviewed was also absent.
I did not receive any updates from the interview results.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Allstate in Sept 2022
Interview
I went through an initial one way video screen, where they give you questions and you talk into a camera and record yourself with answers. That part is easy. You only have like 3 or 4 times to record yourself, but you get as much time as you need to practice getting the perfect delivery. Usually at this part of the process I would ask questions about the team and the role, but there is no way for me to ask those types of questions or to understand the organization.
I got asked back for another round, this time for an hour and a half with 5 people. It's a pretty action packed process, where you meet everyone, do a case study review, they give you a 20 minute design challenge (not necessarily about designing a solution, but how you would approach a problem), then with some spicy STAR questions at the end to top it off.
I didn't get the position, it was a challenging interview. I don't think I like the initial one way interview. I'm always of fan of design challenges that don't ask you to design a feature for their platform.
