I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Alloy in Feb 2021
Interview
Great experience!
-Brief intro call
-coding interview in person
-onsite with a series of interviews including (a technical screen, system design, meet the team, meet engineers, meet product), wrap up session with recruiter
I received an e-mail describing the interview process, including code interivew. I had a chat with the manager and he gave me a negative impression about the team. Asked me personal questions which were not related to the job position itself, showing signs of micromanagement.
Interview process:
1. Coding challenge
2. Phone Screen
3. Two Technical Interviews
4. Onsite
Recruiter was very responsive and communicated well. Almost every interviewer was super kind and helpful except for my very last interviewer, which caught me a little off guard.
There was multiple things about that interview that was very off putting.
The first thing he mentions after saying his name was that he worked for a big tech company.
He kept saying the word "obviously" after I asked him a question.
He wasn't very helpful during the whole interview.
He kept typing very loudly as I was thinking through the problem.
It was really hard for him to answer simple questions like "What do you do at Alloy?"
Again I thought every other interviewer was great and the culture at Alloy seems very good as well. But, unfortunately, this interviewer alone made what could have been a great experience for me into a negative one.
