I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Alibaba Group (San Jose, CA) in Dec 2016
Interview
Got email from their HR, followed by a phone call from one of their engineers or architect without any pre-arrangement. Invited to go onsite, again, no interview schedule and interviewers' information. Spent 2 hours talking to some managers/architects. Rejection email after a few days.
The experience was rather disappointing for two reasons:
1. It was totally disorganized;
2. It was unclear from the interviews / interviewers what they were looking for.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Alibaba Group (Hangzhou, Zhejiang) in Mar 2011
Interview
The interview was very complicated, there were around 5 - 6 round interviews, last round was founder of Alibaba group. Not only technical, also including working pressure, communication skill, team work and other points. For people who only think of themselves, are very hard to pass all the interviews.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Even last round technical interview may ask coding question. It is not easy to pass all interviews.
