I applied on LinkedIn and was instantly reached out to by the recruiter. The recruiter seemed extremely interested in my profile and insisted I speak with the hiring team. He mentioned that the director of this team had really liked my resume which is very rare for her to so we should set up a time ASAP. I accepted to speak with the team and it was a phone conversation with 2 team members which was extremely awkward. To begin with the phone call was scheduled at 5:30 pm and I got a call at 5:50 pm. Whatever happened to professionalism! Once contacted the guy who claimed to be the team lead in Boston was traveling and tried to add the director on call from Carolina. It was super awkward to get started because neither of us knew who is going to ask a question and begin speaking. It was very mismanaged and a sheer waste of my time. The team lead asked me questions about my background and grilled me on some areas as to what I do and why I exactly do so. The director kept stepping in only to point out how I can craft my resume better and gave some unsolicited advice. She asked if I had a professional certification and I did not. She further added to it saying that she recommends I do so that hiring teams take me seriously. I mean whoever asked for your advice on that??! I don’t understand why someone would recommend their opinions and takes on candidates resume and provide advice without having asked for. The team lead seemed to be a big yes man and just kept agreeing with her. Absolutely unprofessional, providing advice without any reason, downright rude and a pure waste of time. Would never want to work for a company that supports such behavior that too in an interview process. Good riddance!
