I had submitted my application via their online careers page. After submitting the application, I waited about a good month of so till I received a phone call regarding the application. The phone call was from a recruiter. For the first call, it was primarily just general questions about why I was interested in the position. Then, a phone interview was arranged for a certain date and time. During the phone interview, questions were asked such as the following:
What are your short term and long term goals?
Why do you want to work for Aerotek?
Why are you interested in the position?
What would make you want to come in, each and every day?
After answering the questions, truthfully, the recruiter asked if I had any questions. At this time, I decided to ask the recruiter the following questions:
1. Describe the company culture- what's it like?
2. What drives you to do what you do? What do you hope to accomplish each day?
The responses are as follows:
1. Well, it's a work hard and play hard environment. If you do what you got to do, you'll be rewarded. We have company parties and that sort of thing.
2. Commission. Each week, I strive to make commission.
After the interview, especially after the second response, I felt as though the recruiter had no true passion in the position, that the reason they came into work was only to make money. One of the benefits of a job is making money, but to be so focused on commission and not care about anything else (at least according to the interview) was surprising to say the least.
