I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Achievement First (Brooklyn, NY) in Jan 2018
Interview
I was contacted by the Director of the Teacher in Residence program. We had an informational interview which led to a phone interview. After that, I was put in contact with a specific school and invited to a finalist interview. That entailed a tour of the school, observation of classes, a guest lesson, and a formal interview.

Question 1
How important do you think it is to have diversity and representation within a staff?
There’s an initial phone call that is first part of the interview, and then you complete the second part of the application where you answer interview questions via video. It’s not live but you record yourself answering the questions within a certain time limit. Afterwards, once you get accepted by the program you get an offer from a school and you do one final interview (supposed to be around 90 minutes with demo lesson, role play, questions about your teaching philosophies/techniques) with the school’s administration.

Question 1
Why do you want to work with/for Achievement First?
The process was very organized and timely. It was a very professional process. They were clear on their expectations for the interview process. At the beginning of the interview I was able to present my demo lesson and received quality feedback.
I applied online. I interviewed at Achievement First (Providence, RI) in Feb 2021
Interview
After submitting your resume and answering some questions you're asked to complete a video interview. If you're moved forward, you have a short phone interview before being moved onto the finalist steps. Before the finalist interview, there's a finalist prep day so that you're prepared for the final interview. In the final interview, you're asked to teach a 5-10 minute lesson plan to the interviewers.
