      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AT&T in Sept 2009

      Interview

After applying online through my school's career website, I received a few e-mails and call to schedule a phone interview with AT&T. It struck me as a bit unusual that during the back-and-forth e-mails with my contact in the HR department, she wasn't showing the typical recruiter behavior. There was a miscommunication with time zones and I just don't think she understood what I was talking about. Anyway, after that, the phone interview was very impersonal and straight to the point. No formalities were exchanged and it was just a series of behavioral questions that she asked while you spoke. No interaction really, just hearing yourself talk. There were a few questions I wasn't prepared for (even though I'd done my homework and researched their site/job position extensively) and that was that. There was the courtesy "Do you have any questions for me?" at the end, but by the end of the interview, I just felt like she didn't really care and my responses didn't matter. I've had phone interviews before and this was probably the worse.

      Interview

The initial phone interview consisted of almost entirely situational questions, most relating to sales experiences.

      Interview

I went to my campus career fair and was asked to interview the next day. The interview was a 1:1 campus interview that lasted about 45 minutes and consisted of mostly behavioral questions. A few weeks later I was told that I made it to the second round but waited about two months before I was asked to do the second interview. The second interview was about an hour long phone interview that consisted of behavioral questions, many of them the same that were asked in the first interview. I am still awaiting their final decision, he told me it would take a couple of weeks.

      Interview

I had the same experience as the other poster regarding the interview. It was very strange. She called me 15 minutes late and was unapologetic. She immediately went into behavioral questions without a friendly starter question or even pretending to care about me. I found myself babbling since she said absolutely nothing. By the time the interview was over, I had the same feeling as the other person who posted about the position and I should have just said I didn't have any questions. Unfortunately, my first question I asked her was "Are there any questions or concerns that you would like addressed regarding my ability to fill this position?" Her response was "My job isn't to tell if you can do the job properly...", so I said "Well then is there anything you would like me to clarify?" Her response was "Due to company policy I cannot tell you that"...Holy Lord.... Another answer was "I work here because I worked at Bell which is now AT&T". Needless to say, I didn't send any think yous.
