      Senior Java Backend Engineer Interview

      13 Sept 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at ALICE in Jun 2018

      Interview

Unfortunately had a deal with such unserious company which doesn't respect time of specialists. At the wery beginning recruiter said that full hiring process will consist of next stages: - 2 initial interviews, - homework (chess game implementation), - 2 more interviews, - gathering feedbacks from ex-colleagues Initially I didn't want to spend time for such a long procedure. But recruiter assured that the most complicated interviews are before the homework and if I pass those, last 2 interviews would be easy. Their purpose is just to get acquainted with the people in the company. So I agreed. After completion of the homework, for which I spent 10 hours it turned out that two next interviews is going the much more complicated that first two ones. For the fourth interview CTO of the company was late for 30 minutes, so that he proposed to set one more interview with him, which was the fifth interview. After successful passing of all those 5 interviews, VP of the company decided to change the rules and to added one more interview with him. And after this interview recruiter totally disappeared from Skype for 3 weeks and finally revealed that the company has no more budget for hiring additional developer. No compensation was proposed for a such a waist of time.
