You have a short written prompt and then transcribe some files that are evaluated for accuracy based on guidelines. You transcribe one file at a time, and the overall process takes about a week or two.

I applied online. A couple of weeks later I was invited to create an account and go to the next round of the application, which involved watching videos and taking tests using their transcription editing software. As a person with years of both transcribing and editing experience, I was confident I would do well on the tests, and I was getting high scores on all the tests I took. However, shortly after submitting one of the last tests, I suddenly got an email terminating me with no explanation other than that 3playmedia has very high standards. I have no idea what I possibly could have done on the last test to get me a low score, since I know the transcript had no typos and followed their style guide. Basically, I wasted four hours total memorizing 3playmedia's style guide and taking tests, and still failed, with no ability to reapply or even figure out what caused me to be terminated in the first place. I'm especially baffled because they made a point of mentioning that they were not looking for perfection, so even if I did make one mistake, that shouldn't have terminated my entire application. All of that aside, the rest of the process was pleasant, and I can tell I would have enjoyed working there. I wish they'd provided more feedback so I could figure out what I did wrong.
