The interview was very cookie-cutter. All participants from the employer side felt like they were reading from a script the entire time. Either they were very green or company policy requires them to follow a script. Why ever it was, the process was very bland and had zero personality. It felt like I was a number on an assembly line and their part could have been done by an AI asking questions and responding to mine.
The worst part that left a bad taste in my mouth was when they asked for salary requirements and I asked for $25-30/hr, which was already low, but then they responded that the position could only meet $18-20... I reluctantly said if they could hit the $20 mark I would consider the offer, and they agreed to $20/hr. I thought that I could prove to them, move up quickly, or take a year's worth of experience and title to move elsewhere if they held me back.
On the day of what I believed to be the final interview, they sent me an email a few hours before stating that the requirements for the position have changed and that it could only pay a max of $15/hr. With the already extremely low pay for a Senior position that was expected to specialize in certifications, I replied that I couldn't go less than what was originally discussed($20/hr). I thanked them and went on my merry way.
