      Business outlook

      Pros

-Fixed schedules -Excellent benefits including health, dental, vision , 401k, and tuition reimbursement -Annual performance based bonus

      Cons

-Highly metric driven environment -High volume of work creates barrier to personalized service -Management

      Honest company- little benefits

      Insurance agent
      Current employee
      Jackson, CA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Never will drop you, pays out best for claims, makes selling policies easy because they are good policies

      Cons

No benefits for being State Farm employee, doesn’t offer medical, dental, vision, any type of group life plan to employees and more.

      Stability

      Claims specialist wccs deployed
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Job stability is great. You work a lot of overtime which directly effects your paychecks in a great way. Good benefits in terms of health, dental, etc along with incentives like hotel fees paid for, per diem, gas, etc.

      Cons

You work a LOT of overtime and have very little free time for yourself. You will spend the majority of your time away from home in a different state. Only one day off per week. Management varies from job to job. You work by yourself & alone for the majority of the time. Have to deal with upset customers/contractors frequently. Stressful environments depending on location. Sometimes have to go inside people's homes that may not be the cleanest &/or smell the greatest.

Great place to work if you get into a good department

      Fire casualty claim specialist
      Current employee
      Tempe, AZ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

They have incredible benefits: health, EAP, dental, vision, 401k, life, and bonuses.

      Cons

I've seen a lot of inconsistency with job satisfaction. You kind of just have to get into a good department with a good manager. I suggest working there a year, seeing what it's all about, and then applying for a new job internally if you don't like your current one.

I had a base pay at least.

      Cons

      No benefits, no health insurance.

      Great Place, No Benefits

      Executive assistant
      Former employee
      Memphis, TN
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      High pay & good hours

      Cons

no health benefits or dental benefits

A great company to work for but wevery

      Claims specialist
      Current employee
      Dunwoody, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

One of the last companies offering Pension and great benefits including 401(k), Health, Dental, etc. An almost a recession-proof company. Hybrid in-office schedule; one week in the office and 3 weeks at home a month.

      Cons

The current economy has changed the workload so that amounts to more work but no extra pay. Lots of company changes on the horizon to combat the economy. The company is starting to lose that family feeling and feels a lot more like a big corporation but if you like that type of environment then it would be a great fit for you.

Not a great place despite the commercials

      Underwriting service assistant
      Former employee
      Atlanta, GA
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      Medical benefits dental are good

      Cons

Can’t move up unless you are liked. Have to have a degree to underwrite, but they aren’t real underwriters.

      2

      Too many unknowns

      Bodily injury claim specialist
      Current employee
      Tempe, AZ
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Money is good but stays at your starting salary for awhile so negotiate high. Excellent benefits, especially low cost health insurance option.

      Cons

Management is so stressed that they make unattainable goals. They do not lead coaching to strengths but instead use fear tactics. Some managers have been their so long that their ability to lead has deteriorated completely. There are no alternatives to an unhealthy work environment other than leaving State Farm entirely. HR doesn't care if you aren't happy and will not take the side of the employee, ever. Don't expect a work-life balance.

      Cons

Way too much work, heavy work-load and a lot of overtime.
