What is the hiring process like at SelectQuote?

      Pros

Work from home that's it with this position!

      Cons

Did 3 interviews for this job and through out the hiring process was told by several differnt people you would quote 10 people a day and write 7 of them and annually first year would be around 80k. After 2 1/2 months on the phone you would be lucky to get 7 calls a day! The calls you do get are bottom of the barrel leads people in their 60's and 70's that either really can't afford insurance or really don't have the need at that point, or are on SSI, disability, have major medical problems, or don't financially qualify. Only agents that have been there for a while get good leads. Our class started out with 32 people and as of this week is down to 9 either people left because it was so slow and weren't going to be making any money or got fired for not producing enough. How can you produce anything if the phone isn't ringing? Wouldn't quit you job for this position.

      Pros

I don’t have anything good to say about this company.

      Cons

Training was awful and not what they promised during the 1 month interview process. The they set for new trainees new in the industry were unreachable. This was a waste of time and has a very misleading management staff and a misleading sales pitch to the elderly.

      Pros

The trainers were excellent! Getting to speak to very angry unhappy customers that were transferred to you that don't want life insurance!

      Cons

SelectQuote Is by far the worst place I've ever worked. Even if you are great at your job there's no guarantee they will keep you. They hold metrics over your head and you always feel as though your job is going to be taken away from you at any time as was the case for so many folks that started in my training class. They are ran by tyrants that have no couth or understanding. They will cheat you out of your commission by their pseudometrics that are garbage and have less to do with actual selling than to following their script and doing other robotic tasks. When you start working at SelectQuote they give you garbage phone calls that is hard to make a living out of for instance You are given all transfers from people that were solicited for ancillary items such as a necklace you wear around your neck in case you fall these people are already irked and angry from getting that phone call and then the agent regardless of whether the customer wants it or not passes that customer on to you so that they can get a couple bucks for us keeping them on the phone for a certain number of minutes. Then you get cursed out by most of these folks because they said they didn't want life insurance to begin with and they didn't want to be transferred You get mistreated so poorly by some of these customers because they don't like the fact that you called them on a early morning or for something stupid like a necklace and if you can convert anybody to maybe being a customer they're usually expecting the world for pennies on the dollar. When you do make large sales they will screw you and I mean screw you big time out of your commission because they have this whole long set of metrics that they measure you by and they can tilt them to their favor to not pay you such as things like customer service basically things that have no quantitative value. If you look and indeed or any other job site you will see every single month they are posting job positions for $60,000 a year plus which is a lie you can't make that your first year. They prevent you from making that!

      Not a Serious Company

      Pros

Remote is the only pro with this company.

      Cons

I was with the company for almost 6 years. I loved my first 4 years at SelectQuote. The last 2 years were a nightmare. We got a new Vice President of Recruiting and everything went downhill. I was in Talent Acquisition before I left we had 9 managers overseeing 48 employees. Even with that low headcount it would take on average 15-20 minutes to get a response from a manager via chat(we were all remote). I had a manager that would go house hunting and then once he bought a house started working on projects during company time. My last manager spent her company time running errands and planning her wedding. I would often be told to reach out to another manager to get something completed. Other coworkers had managers that are relentless micromanagers. There is no career development here. You get promoted based on friendships, not experience. My last manager never focused on my career developments. One on one time was spent gossiping about co-workers or talking about her wedding. This is not a serious company where you can build a long-term career.
