Pros
Blue Nile was one of the best places to work in my opinion. From the top executives to the bottom and everything in between, we were a tight knit company. We figured things out as a team as any company should. Pay was decent. Benefits were fantastic. Bonus structures and business allowance were also a plus . Remote work meant balance for a lot of us. It was overall a very positive environment
Cons
Until… the acquisition and the switchover. EVERYTHING changed. The team we had was no longer existent after numerous rounds of layoffs. There was no more room for growth. Our systems changed entirely and even the people above us had no clue how to execute the switchover. I would say poor planning, but I don’t think much planning was involved. We suffered and so did our clients. Our benefits changed as well. The team that took over had a micromanaging “I know it all, so listen to me” style. It was constant email after email after IM every hour of every single day telling us all the things we were doing wrong even tho we were just learning the system they had developed before I was even born. I was sad to leave, but it was time. The environment had grown incredibly toxic.
