In 1984, Ross Freeman, Bernard Vonderschmitt, and James V Barnett II founded Xilinx. They came up with the idea of creating chips that were programmable, so the customer could program each chip to their needs rather than having to purchase preprogrammed chips. Through this advancement, Xilinx changed the semiconductor market forever. Happy 37th to us!
