Exercising engineering transparency helps to build trust and encourage best practices across engineering teams. Datadog’s Cian Synott sat down with LeadDev to share how he promotes strong communication, and therefore collaboration, as a Senior Staff Engineer. Cian notes, “Behaving transparently takes time, intention, and practice. It helps us effectively manage expectations around our work and is a practical exercise of empathy for our colleagues, both giving them the context they need and clearly modeling good engineering behavior.” Check out the full article:

Throughout March, Datadogs will be celebrating and observing the month through programs and events that are open to all Datadogs and hosted by our Women and Non-Binary Datadog (WAND) Community Guild. These events will explore challenges faced by individuals from under-represented communities, share stories of influential women in history, and showcase members of the Datadog community. With a keen focus on fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that enables us all to bring our whole selves to work, WAND's mission is to engage, empower and elevate the Women and Non-Binary community at Datadog. Our Community Guilds (CGs) are voluntary, employee-driven groups of individuals who join together based on common backgrounds or demographic factors, and the allies who support them. It is our hope that CGs help create an inclusive environment by encouraging collaboration, and fostering a sense of belonging across Datadog’s departments and regions. Stay tuned for more information about these internal initiatives! #DatadogLife

Transitioning into a management role can be a big change, for a number of varying reasons (and especially during a pandemic!). Datadog’s Regional Director of Enterprise Sales in UKI, Lucy Williams-Jones, shares what her experience has been moving into a leadership role after battling COVID-19 herself, and why she hasn’t looked back since. In Lucy’s words: "I've learned a lot of skills that have enabled me to be successful, to have the cash to buy a forever home, go on nice holidays, explore, and travel. And when I was lying there [with COVID], I realized, 'I really want to transfer these skills to young women in tech, because I think that we're an underrepresented group, and I could actually get those young women living their best lives and earning the cash that they deserve." Hear more of Lucy’s story and decision to go from an Account Executive to Sales leader in PowerToFly’s latest blog feature.
