Cadence Creates Industry’s First LLM Technology for Chip Design In the nine short months since OpenAI brought ChatGPT (a Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) and the phenomenal concept of large language models (LLMs) to the global collective consciousness, pioneers from every corner of the economy have raced to understand the benefits—and the pitfalls—of deploying this nascent technology to their particular industry. And as it turns out, semiconductor chip design is a perfect candidate. Cadence is no stranger to generative AI, of which LLMs are one aspect. Our broad generative AI portfolio spans system design from chip to package to printed circuit board, with the Cadence Joint Enterprise Data and AI (JedAI) Platform at its heart. Our current applications focus on chip design optimization, automation, and acceleration in the later stages of implementation. Yet it’s in the initial, human-led design process where bugs and bottlenecks are most likely to occur—and we can put LLM strengths to good use. Read more on our blog about how we are making public the first robust proof of concept of an LLM in chip design.
Going Global with LGBTQ+ Pride at Cadence In recognition of LGBTQ+ Pride month, we honored and celebrated the LGBTQ+ global community by hosting special events with inspiring speakers and partner organizations. This year, we reflected on the importance of creating safe space at work and building allyship with the LGBTQ+ community. We recently interviewed our LGBTQ+ Inclusion Group leaders, Karna Nisewaner, Executive Sponsor and Corporate VP, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary, and Rene Spring, Global LGBTQ+ Group Lead and Program Management Director, and chatted more about their thoughts on the inclusion group’s role in supporting our LGBTQ+ employees, how global visibility can impact engagement, and ways we can all be champions of Cadence’s commitment to diversity in 2023.
