Pros

It’s difficult to identify any genuine positives from my time at this company. Despite being an organization that claims to provide positive and professional mental health services, the internal environment was anything but healthy. The lack of support, structure, and basic respect from upper management made the job mentally exhausting and emotionally unsustainable. Any potential benefits were completely overshadowed by the blatant disregard for employee well-being.

Cons

Working at this organization was one of the most mentally draining and disheartening experiences of my professional life. The lack of leadership, structure, and support from upper management created an environment defined by chaos, low morale, and constant burnout. There is no regard for employee well-being despite this company being a mental health based field, and communication is either dismissive or entirely absent. Feedback is unwelcome, growth is stifled, and dysfunction is treated as business as usual. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to think twice — unless you're prepared to sacrifice your mental health for a paycheck.

Pros

They will buy you lunch to make up for exploiting your time.

Cons

If you’re looking to join this company as a BHM, DONT. They are going to try to wine and dine you to suck you in. They are going to try to make it seem like they are paying you more than the “market rate” and will try to sell you that they are SO different than the other mental health care companies out they. They are all about putting dollars into their own pockets. All of the previous five star reviews are written by employees who do NOT work in the field, but at HQ. There is such a disconnect between headquarters and the BHMs who are the ACTUAL revenue source for this company. They do nothing but exploit them. They preach work/life balance but if you're not seeing at least 8 clients per day (or meeting your “productivity numbers”) they will micromanage you until you do. They claim you have at least two hours per day to do documentation, which is laughable because that means you are able to finish all your sessions at exactly the 45 minute mark and spend 15 minutes documenting (god forbid you actually want to try to connect with other office staff, take a breather to decompress, or run to the bathroom). They like to monopolize your lunch hour with meetings too, but will give you a lunch to try to make up for it! , Good luck trying to schedule and use PTO, because you’re still expected to meet the same “productivity numbers” if you do (like what’s the point of PAID time off then?). They will tell you how much they take care of their BHMs. The life cycle of a BHM is 13 months—they leave once the glitter has worn off and they see what this company is actually about. They constantly say they are different than private practice yet say “well if this were private practice you would have to do xyz”. You talk to your higher ups and they just spin things on YOU. You’re made to feel like you’re not doing enough or you somehow could be doing more. There is no accountability from HQ. They want to believe they are “best in the biz” they aren’t. If you’re new to the field, RUN! They are trying to exploit you. There are better jobs out there!

Response from Erik Osland, CEO: As the founder and chief champion of the company, I am personally, deeply hurt by your review. It is not just your apparent experience that concerns me, but also the claims that do not align with our values and are not shared by most of our employees, who have documented their positive experiences here on Glassdoor. While my initial reaction was to fact-check and correct these statements, I realize that this approach would not be productive or helpful. Instead, I invite you to have a direct conversation with me to better understand your experience and evolvedMD’s role in it. “We grow” is one of our values and we have always been committed to doing better. I am ready and happy to acknowledge my part in this process on behalf of the company. Please reach out to me directly at erik.osland@evolvedmd.com so that I can learn more.

Pros

I am still learning to love my position. It is tough, but there are fair parts that make this a good choice for some. It just isn’t for me, however I am putting my best foot forward to learn to do something hard and for a medium amount of time. - Fast track to licensure - CEU easily accessible - Free Supervision (Lunch Included) - Bonuses and metrics to see how you are doing - Working in fast paced environment - Fast track Patients to social services and medication - Patients that would have never attended therapy before have easy access - Independent work - Week off in December (But you don't get to take federal holidays) - PTO (80 hours Vacation, 40 hours Sick, 80 Unpaid, Maternal and Bereavement) - Health care packages and insurance policies

Cons

To be honest, I wanted to quit within the first 6 weeks my health was so bad and previous supervisors told me to run. There were many areas where I fell through the cracks with support. You can feel isolated and unsure of your expectations at times. I also spent a few months falling apart mentally/ emotionally (eg, Crying frequently, low energy, decreased stress tolerance, etc). *** The people that do well in this position have a few common factors:*** pre burnt out, worked in the feild for at least a year prior, almost completed with Associates Licenses, and looking to work their way up and no longer practice. - See a minimum of 5 Patients per day (Always scheduled for 8 per day) - 10-15 minutes to document and prepare between sessions (Keep in mind you document on two platforms and its more than just a soap/dap note) - Often feel isolated from others (Please attend the group events if you are struggling) - Working through lunch frequently - You got to work early, leave late: 8 am - 5 pm but you are working about 9-10 hours per day. - Don’t feel like you are doing real therapy till about 7 months (Ramp up is the worst period— you can get through it)! - Only see Patient’s once a month (Even for high risk, which is morally and ethically difficult for me and why my health declined) The truth is, this is good if you need to get in and get out. Most full time people burn out in this position and they go part time or I have found people leave after a year. That is not to say this isn’t a good opportunity for some, it isn’t for me and I wanted to be honest with my experiences because I feel you find out a little too late what it is actually like and that makes it hard to make a decision if evolvedMD is for you.
