Pros

Fantastic company to work for where hard work is rewarded. There are no micro-managers, you get to be as creative as you can be in order to achieve your targets. There is a good social scene with regular nights out, weekly football matches and other activities to build team moral (fantasy football, hackathons, target based pizza lunches.) When the bosses take the company out (about once per quarter) the staff are always well taken care of. Morning and afternoon coffee breaks in a round-table environment allow every staff member to talk to staff in other departments. One day you could be sitting next to the CEO, on another day next to a member of the Finance Team and on another next to a team member from one of the many tech teams (QA, mobile, UX etc.)

Cons

Professionally, official communication between departments can improve. New product developments/enhancements can be released without sales staff knowing. Socially, in the last couple of years a few cliques have formed within the broad range of nationalities hired. There is little management can do about this, unless more inclusive team-building/social activities are created on a regular basis.

A Dead End

Pros

Easy going environment, decent kitchen/cooking facilities, modern office, on-site parking, weekends/bank holidays off, social events on occasion and 2x team tea breaks daily.

Cons

This company needs a HR person, desperately. Major disconnect between the CEO's and staff on the floor doing the selling and/or tech dev. Devs cannot explain what Sales team 'sell' - the left hand doesn't talk to the right. CEO's have old-fashioned vision and aren't keeping up with the competition. No individual recognition for hard work. Performances not monitored accurately and little or no accountability for staff not pulling their weight. No room to progress and no salary reviews (despite promises). Also don't allow half-days to be taken as annual leave - unusual. No value proposition, mission statement or internal culture tangible despite being nearly 10 years old - still have a 'startup' mentality (used mainly as an excuse for not adapting to change). Unspoken divide between sales team and everyone else in other rooms. Longer serving staff (original 10) appear unapproachable and stand offish.

Thank you for your review. While you may feel there are some cons at the moment we are working to take on board the feedback we are receiving. We are taking steps to put a HR person in place. Moving forward there will also be regular reviews with management, where targets will be set for the coming months and previous targets and achievements will be discussed. This will also be an opportunity for any salary review discussions to take place. We have also just sent out the Employee Handbook which is a useful reference for any questions Employees may have. If you have any additional questions or concerns you can speak to your line manager who will be happy to assist you.
