Pros

Building an incredible product Collaborative teams Culture -- fun office presence in Cambridge and Montreal Huge opportunity within this industry Good benefits & leave Dedicated CEO and leadership team Caring manager

Cons

Some decisions take too long Communication - top down, bottom up, and laterally between departments Typical growing pains of a company High expectations -- not the company to coast Some team members may not be bought in or up for the challenge Layers of management - sometimes 'on the ground' teams don't always see the work management is doing

Pros

- The work environment is relatively relaxed, with minimal pressure except during peak periods. However, this may not be ideal for engineers seeking to consistently improve their skills. - Exposure to interesting and modern technologies. -Despite a decline in engineering quality over the years, there are still several talented individuals in the team. Most colleagues are pleasant and collaborative.

Cons

Management needs significant improvement: - As an engineer, I worked on numerous projects that either were never used or ended up complicating the codebase unnecessarily. This lack of direction often felt counterproductive. - After nearly a decade since its founding, the company still struggles to achieve product-market fit, leading to frequent instability. - Financial uncertainty has resulted in multiple rounds of layoffs, ranging from transparent announcements to instances where employees simply "disappeared" without clear communication. - Leadership tends to be overly secretive about the company's status. While publicly assuring employees that everything is on track, unexpected layoffs create an atmosphere of mistrust. - A shift in engineering leadership led to a noticeable change in culture—from one of collaboration and growth to a production-focused environment where people work in fear of scrutiny or job loss. - With the new appointment in leadership for engineering we switched from an contributing environment with perspectives to grow into an environment where everybody just wants to produce to prevent being called out or laid off.

Pros

Great concept/ idea for the platform created by super smart MIT grads. They had solid core values they used to hold themselves to everyday. Good low cost benefits, market rate tech startup pay structure.

Cons

They are clearly not in the operational or financial position they continue to try to reassure us about. There have been layoffs in multiple waves since last fall. People just disappear from every department and nobody wants to talk about it. The smart ones have had the foresight to see things were not going well and jumped ship. Many amazing and talented people have walked away or run was more like it. The product is clearly not ready for the market or can't be implemented successfully which we've heard is handicapping the sales team. All Hands meetings are really depressing now and they keep trying to spin sell that everything is great. Newer senior leadership has totally changed the culture from one of values, collaboration and respect to one of fear and intimidation. It's not a fun time to be here.

Pros

- DevOps culture - Unlimited PTO - Remote first culture - Interesting Tech Stack - Good product - Great colleagues - Easy to approach stakeholders

Cons

- Some strategic conditions were made in isolated narrow circle(s) which proved to be unsuccessful - Not always there was a good supervision/overview of the tech decisions made by more junior team members, which led to tech debt and suboptimal resources usage

Mismanaged company

Pros

Startup culture, some great and caring people, cool product

Cons

Mismanaged company. Recent management changes brought in mid-level/upper level executives who barely understand both the business and how to run a company of the size. No one is aligned with each other on best practices. Layoffs were less of the issue than how they were managed with no regard to people. Lack of transparency in regards to company performance. A culture of working on tasks rather than strategy/meaningful projects. No work life balance, and no use of the unlimited PTO
