      Lack of organisation, knowledge and a willingness to listen

      Pros

      Relaxed atmosphere - there were good benefits :/ financial trouble has led to redundancies, a pay cut across the board and most of the wellbeing program being cut recently though

      Cons

      Management don’t genuinely listen. Staff either stay forever or leave very quickly, as there’s a ‘we’ve always done it this way and that’s just how we do it’ attitude that a lot of people with skills and talent find very frustrating. Little ability to look inward and make appropriate changes to processes etc. Absolutely no training whatsoever, it’s sink or swim. Team leaders often have no experience of the industry outside of this company which only exacerbates the ‘we do it this way’ culture. They don’t value staff, they will tell you again and again how staff are the ‘heroes’ but actions don’t align with this.

      Dear me you were not impressed were you? Sorry you felt that way and felt compelled to leave. I confess I have to disagree strongly with some of your comments but at the same time I have to accept that Webcertain can be a challenging place to work since we're in the marketing performance field and work with many of the world's best known brands. It's not for everyone. Let me pick up your points: "management don't genuinely listen" - I'm sorry you felt like that. I'm sure we actually listen a lot more than you appreciated and to all colleagues - however I will revisit that to see if we're doing enough listening. Of course, there are always lots of different points of views in a business and I guess we didn't take your views as seriously as you would have liked. I certainly get a lot of direct feedback from colleagues and am open to speak to anyone in the business. "Staff either stay forever or leave very quickly" is absolutely not true. Our average staff turnover is well below industry averages and we have a range of staff across all service periods from 2,3, or 4 years and on up to 8,9 or 10 years. I note that you left after less than a year so you perhaps hadn't had the opportunity to learn about the workings of the business as I feel that takes at least a year. "We've always done it this way attitude." Unfortunately sometimes yes, we do have to do things to a certain workflow as we have to focus on consistent delivery to our clients. We do review processes and listen to ideas but they do have to presented in a positive manner in any job. "Absolutely no training whatsoever" is a very odd thing to say when at the same you claim that we didn't listen to you and with your later comment that we only appoint trainees? Something isn't quite right in your argument - perhaps you'd like to clarify and I'll then amend my response? "Only hiring inexperienced, younger people because you pay them lower salaries isn't always the best option" is just not true - it's just factually wrong - so I'll skip that. Are you saying that you were a trainee? And if not? Your point on DMTs is factually wrong also. We're very proud of our digital marketing training programme and I checked the statistics - in the past 18 months 75% of ALL digital marketing trainees were promoted to a more senior role. However, we forgive your comments - we understand it didn't work for you - but I can tell you that I get a lot of positivity from your former colleagues. I hope that in the future you will look back on your time at Webcertain and realise that actually you learned a lot and it set you up for your future career and that you are able to approach your next job in a more positive way. That's certainly what many of our ex-team members say to me when I meet them around the world at events!

      Poor management & treatment of employees

      Pros

      The people and international environment.

      Cons

      Little respect for employees from the management, whom they see as totally dispensable. They recently fired 6 employees and cut salaries for everyone else and one month later they have 14 job postings. Lack of training or opportunity for career development.

      Webcertain is a company I founded 20 years ago and has been built by the hard work and dedication of a great many employees and many of them continue to grow their careers with us. We are totally dedicated to seeing our employees develop and grow with the business and are committed to developing and expanding our training. I'm sorry you find my responses too long or "acerbic" and I"m sorry it that working here didn't work out for you. I think the 14 jobs you say we're advertising are those listed by GlassDoor which are not from us. We currently have roughly 4 vacant positions. If you have any specific comments about your experience at Webcertain - I would encourage you to contact us so we can look into them.

      International spirit but no development

      Pros

      The international spirit and "to do" attitude. Great monthly events and plenty of perks. Senior staff very understandable. Friendly and capable HR.

      Cons

      The lack of vision and mission. No budget for training and career growth which leads to people leaving the company, as the nice environment is not enough. This results in huge cost for HR. Low salaries and no engagement with the new business trends. UX and market research are unknown words. Lack of procedures and policies. No brand consistency. Poor and unusable websites and platforms which create a false communication image for the company.

      Thank you for your positive comments and your recognition of the international spirit and "to do" attitude. I'm sorry you found us lacking on some things - some of which are clearly communication issues. We have long had a mission and vision though it is true it's been updated twice in the last couple of years which might be what you mean. It's not actually true that there's no training - there is a training budget and we do spend it. The issue has been that our own staff often know more than the trainers they encounter on external courses so we don't get value for money. Salaries are benchmarked once a year but what people think they're worth and what the market says are not always the same thing! It's funny that you say that the company doesn't understand UX or market research since I was in charge of market research in my last company. I seem to remember that this comment was driven by the fact that a project that was intended to look at the usability of a subscription system became expanded into a review of the whole website which was outside the scope since that part of the website was, in fact, due to be rebuilt at the time. As far as listening to "users" is concerned, I regularly visit our customers around the world to find out their issues and their challenges in working with us. It's illuminating and important work and doesn't always point to the aspects we expect. I hope you new career - I guess now in UX(?) is going according to plan.
