Whole day of work isn't enough

Pros

Free coffee, free catered food and great people

Cons

It could have been a great company to work for it if not for the long hours of work because of too much workload. The whole day just won't be enough to accomplish everything that you have planned to complete for the day. At the end of the day, you just feel exhausted and tired and dread the next day because you have to do it all over again.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are a rapidly growing organization and with that, understand that workloads can be difficult to balance. With our upward trajectory, we are currently seeking new members to join the team. We are keen on great communication and know that we still have work to do in this department. One of our methods is petitioning our employees and managers to have weekly check-ins to discuss how employees are feeling, which includes discussing workloads. PriceSpider’ s culture is that of “all hands-on deck” and each contributor here has a high impact to the bottom line. We understand this environment is not a fit for everyone and we hope that you were able to join an organization to your likening.

Pros

If you're needing a paycheck right away, then take it. You can get some free snacks everyday and free lunch on Fridays. It's a casual dress environment.

Cons

Look forward to employees relying on managers to dictate direction, or you will suffer consequences. Managers will question your job commitment, make you work crazy hours ( which I don't mind the crazy hours sometimes, but reward and acknowledge), and this is the kicker, make you feel like crap when you make a wrong decision. Also, if you like regular emails from our HR that tell employees to be in by 9am on a bi-weekly basis, or if you like HR and your manager not allowing you to have a life. Acknowledgement and trust suffers greatly in this place. STAY AWAY.

Pros

There exists some strong individuals in various departments that are great to work with, but they don't stick around long. Decent benefits and strong PTO

Cons

Departments are incredibly siloed with a pervasive toxic atmosphere. Departments do not work together, and it often feels like they are fighting each other for their own individual goals. It always felt like it was "us vs them" for every department. Huge amounts of tech debt with very little buy-in to reduce it. Leadership does not seem interested in making active progress in modernizing systems, but are more than willing to talk about how they are. Very little results are seen from the talk. Very little communication between upper and lower management. It felt like lower level employees were not trusted because of the lack of transparency. Incredibly sales-driven. Sales are good - but we were constantly prioritizing based upon the loudest clients or salespeople. There was no adherence to roadmaps, everything was subject to last minute change. Huge tech debt + incredibly sales-driven led to chaotic atmosphere. You were never sure when something was going to crash and burn and you were likely to get thrown into a system you know nothing about to make critical fixes. No retrospectives were ever done on issues because the amount of "high priority" fixes would mean you would be in constant retrospectives. Failures were never talked about, especially with the company as a whole.
