Pros

Good pay. Autonomy in classroom.

Cons

The school has been a dysfunctional and toxic workplace for teachers for as long as anyone can remember. A couple recent changes in headmasters have not brought improvement. The newest headmaster started last fall. She has said some nice things but still (as of February) hasn't shown evidence she intends to make actual changes. The administrators know how to give orders, but lack credentials and skills for their roles and their decisions are usually poorly informed. They do not support, listen, care, empathize, respect, understand, or collaborate with teachers. You are here simply because their school must have teachers. Some of these administrators add no apparent benefit to the school.

Pros

Incredible location. Incredible facilities/buildings. Colleagues are amazing. Learning Services department supports students who need the most help. Option to live on campus. Good food in the student center. Unlike other boarding schools, coaching a sport and being a dorm parent is NOT required for teaching faculty.

Cons

Bloated administration. Toxic administration. So focused on recruiting students that there is very little discernment about who is a good fit, the focus is on how much they can pay—which leads to admitting many difficult students needing incredible support and behavior correction. Very long hours, as is the case in boarding schools—some evening and weekend hours are required. Toxic work environment.
