Pros

To have a job and get a check. To have something to put on your resume that will land you a job where someone cares about you as a person.

Cons

This company used to be a good company, but now it’s 100% about profits and zero percent people. Raises are ridiculous and management gives excuses about our team not making money for the company. We are a SERVICE TEAM. We aren’t there to bring in the money but to prevent it from walking out the door, which is what the majority of this team is ready to do. Increasing responsibilities, ineffective and damaging managers, and not even cost of living wage increases. This company has never had a good rep for listening to the employees, but it’s completely gone sideways now and the work environment is increasingly hostile. To put it simply: this place is not worth working at or doing business with.

Midsize Growing Pains

Pros

For now, the culture remains strong and supportive between lower management and workers. This company has a ton of talent. Some areas have seen tremendous improvement this year, such as internal knowledge bases (HR comes to mind) and the usage of AI to get workers the answers they need.

Cons

Senior leadership has become a C-suite nepotism situation. Despite fiscal performance trending downward this year, several new SVP positions have been created, and others continue to be shuffled to new positions that appear to be custom-made for them. Exceptional internal candidates have been passed over for external hires. When we talk about career growth, there is no clear trajectory, and generally, after waves of layoffs, we are all thankful just to still have a job and not be arbitrarily cut. HR is truly for the company, not the workers, and does not welcome or even offer feedback channels for anything they do. Many employees view HR as a department as slow, difficult to work with, and intentionally cold.

Pros

The ability to work from home. Holidays off.

Cons

I took a pay cut to work for this company under the impression there was room to grow and advance my career. Unfortunately, that was not the case at all. There is no room for growth. Also, the environment is extremely toxic with poor management. They tell you it’s not about how many numbers you push out, but it is. I did not receive a raise after working there for a year and taking on more responsibility. After receiving an above average performance for the year in my review, I was micro managed and made to feel as if my work wasn’t enough. When I put in my notice with this company, it was a week before bonuses went out. (Bonuses went out 3 months after the prior year) However, my boss was very vague and would not tell us when our bonus would come through. Once I put my notice in, he told me I would receive my bonus. Then, he told me HR blocked my bonus. (He assured me this would be looked into, it was not).He also told me I would be paid out for my week of built up PTO time. I was not. That was time that had to be earned. I’ve reached out to HR as well as my previous manager, and have not been given the time of day. This company is very toxic, the pay is not fair, and they clearly do not care about you as an individual. A perfect example of this is how instead of taking accountability or trying to resolve the issue, my review was immediately attempted to be covered up.
