Great atmosphere - commission staff but good deals if you let them work for you

- dealing with open box customer returns - theft is common - customers always haggling

Over the years the company has made it more and more difficult to not only make money but reduced benefits, no more RRSP, artificially inflating item costs so that the company keeps more money. All and all a fairly toxic environment with little regard for employees.

Many many cons If you sell outside your department, people cry about it. If you're not in video you have no guarantee for pay. Video staff make large spiffs to drop their pants and push boxes all day long, get mad if you try to make some of their easy money. Not a single benefit, you're better off not even opting into it

Higher pay guaranteed in video because of spiffs and guaranteed payout on product. Video staff is greedy and territorial.

Head office is too involved in stores day to day process, and this wasn't the case 8 months ago. When a new company president was hired he took it upon himself to micromanage every GM without knowing the cultures of the different locations. Extremely long holiday hours and no overtime. Extremely competitive sales practice which scares customers away. "Competitive" pricing which leads to sales staff to make nothing in commission due to constant discounting that is enforced. Online sales through the website taking sales from actual sales staff on the floor. Different discounts online which take away from the sales staff. Too focused on just making any sale, and severely raising extended warranty prices and still expecting sales staff to be able to hit a goal when a 5 yr warranty on a 85" tv is approximately 839.99 which is actually one a 4 year warranty as the first year of manufacture is counted.
