Toxic work environment.

Pros

Potential growth to be in a couple of years.

Cons

Terrible place to work with. Gave me an ultimatum by the second week that I need to start working 60+ hours. Had a meeting with the CFO where he went on a rant talking about how people in New York regularly work 80+ hours. He was specifically referring to stock traders. Overall their culture is to work hard and maybe you will be somewhere in a couple of years.

Thanks for leaving the review, but what a bummer to read! Giving someone an ultimatum doesn't sound like something we do at Verified First, and we don't think our Glassdoor rating would be as high as it is if we did! There are times when the job performance doesn't match the expectations for the role. If someone is under-performing then they have to work even harder, often in the means of more hours, to get caught up. The role you have listed yourself as has been proven by past employees to be completed in a 40-hour workweek. One thing we can agree on is that hard work and strong job performance is definitely rewarded with promotion and growth opportunities for our employees - but often much sooner than a couple of years!

Pros

Teammates are great New sales training is stellar Cool office Fun company competitions & events

Cons

If you don’t meet expectations management is quick to look down on you. Although there is nothing wrong with being held accountable, there is very little tolerance for underperformance - even if you’re working hard to improve your skills and performance. Unless your efforts result in hitting goals, expect to feel flushed out of the company pretty quickly. When it comes to growth, management often makes promises they can’t deliver on (pay raises, extended vacation time, and job expectations) to name a few. No sick leave. PTO accrual is a joke. A whopping 6.2 days. Little to no ability to negotiate benefits.

We are happy to hear that you worked with a great team and enjoyed the cultural aspects that we are so proud of! We are also excited that you got to experience the new training and be in the new office space. We are disappointed that your experience with us was not one that you would recommend to others though. It is true that we hold everyone accountable and expect them to meet their job metrics -- as we imagine most companies do. We believe it is important to set tangible goals and often celebrate achieving those goals in the "fun office events" you mention. When performance is an issue, we make every attempt to coach up that team member, which may include looking into the cause, investing more training, and when possible, changing roles that would result in a better job/person fit. With our open-door policy, all team members are highly encouraged to connect with their leaders or HR if they feel that they are struggling with their goals or need clarification on what their goals are. As you can understand, if someone is struggling to meet performance standards, moving them into a management position won't set them, or their team, up for success. 2020 was a rough year with Covid. While we would have loved to give everyone raises and promotions, that was something that we had to push back until things started to stabilize in the business community. Since then, we have had tremendous growth on our team! We have had multiple promotions and introduced many new team member, and anticipate that to continue in 2021. As for PTO, we introduced a new accrual system at the beginning of 2020 which increases the longer that you are with us, reaching nearly 4 weeks of paid leave. We group this into one PTO accrual so employees can use it based on their needs- whether that be days off, sick time, or vacation. We participate in surveys to benchmark our benefits compared to employers in the market, including PTO, on an annual basis. While there is always room to improve, we are confident we are in-line for employers our size. We hope you find better alignment in your next role, and thank you for working with us in the past!
