Benefits are great since you are a government employee. This includes time off.
Cons
Environment can be hostile due to the overload of work. They will try to get you at the lowest salary possible.

Work-life balance! Understanding leadership. Coworkers become family. Great benefits. The work itself is very rewarding.
Cons
The compensation is measly. The benefits are great until you try to include dependents. At that point they suck because you can't afford them on the pittance that you are paid.
