How an Agency is Meant to Feel and Operate

Pros

What's not to like as a professional designer when you have a variety of clients and brands to work for on a daily basis? The small agency environment adds to the integral role you play in whatever position you're working in. You won't be a lost cog in a machine here and you'll feel like part of the family so long as you can keep up with the fast pace.

Cons

Maybe you won't like starting work at 7am... Then again, you get off at 4pm. You be the judge.

Pros

Admittedly, I was more qualified to handle my supervisor's role than the position of "Designer" so she seemed threatened but the other designers in the group were really great.

Cons

I worked for this company less than 1 week. I left because I don't suffer fools. This company is tiny for a reason. The owner doesn't know how to build a marketing business and doesn't seem to want to know. If he did, he would hire a talented creative director to raise the bar on behalf of the company and its clients while he got on with attracting larger clients to sell the creative product at higher fees. Instead, he holds a grip as the creative guru while his own work is mediocre. He has built a culture of marketing mediocrity. This, while they maintain a strict adherence to "operations" like job tracking software, file preparation, processes and procedures and forced group lunches. Fine, but none of these things ever made one dime for a client. Yet this is the all-consuming cultural focus here. There's nothing sexy about it and NO client will pay big money for file prep. They can get solid production files anywhere so there is nothing unique here or any competitive advantage. Clients want smart thinking, savvy marketing concepts, and beautiful executions. That stuff sells itself. But that is not the company's strength so it's basically a production house. If you are an aspiring creative professional, this culture can be oppressive and detrimental to the most important fundamentals you require to develop a young creative mind. If you just want to build files, you might love this place.

We’re very sorry that you had such a bad experience at V2Works. But, to be clear… (1) you were here on CONTRACT ONLY and you were never an employee; (2) you did not leave V2Works, we chose not to extend your contract; and (3) the reason we ended your contract was because your work was inexperienced, didn’t meet the high expectations of our company or clients, nor did you meet your deadline. Also, you having spent only a week at V2Works doesn’t give you true insight into our team, our business workings, nor what’s needed to run a successful business like ours, and that’s painfully obvious by your unseasoned and downright false comments and observations. Our internal culture is about doing great work and being positive. Negative people don’t last here, so it sounds like we lucked out by not extending your contract. We have been in business for 26 years and have clients all over the world. We purposely like to stay small, so we can offer our clients dedicated, professional, one-on-one customer service that keeps them coming back for more. We have created, designed, and produced over 6,000 brands, brochures, websites and more. You can't get much more successful than that.

Pros

Great people with a fun, team-working environment (nice coworkers!). Opportunity to move up if you put in the effort. Good management. Great benefits and wellness package. Free refreshments, lots of social interaction, and both on- and off-site events such as massage day, movie days, dress-up days, team lunches, team-building expeditions, month end happy hour (close early), birthday celebrations, outings and activities, football tournaments, wacky days and contests, candy stash, annual holiday celebrations.' Steady 7-4 schedule which gives me all evenings off to spend with my family.

Cons

Can be hectic at times. It’s definitely a fast paced, but positively challenging work environment. It’s a great place to learn, and thrive as an individual.
