Pros

- Snacks, all the unhealthy Costco snacks you can eat! Managers are encouraged to bring employees snacks so they never have to leave their seats.

Cons

Whenever I bring up my concerns to management I get the same generic answer about this being a "startup culture" or "growing pains" or "scaling problems" There are many startup companies that hire and retain experienced employees all while promoting a healthy workplace. No one will admit that finding and keeping experienced employees is the main problem at Upgrade. Leadership is awful at best and turnover rates are much much higher than average. - CEO has a history of defrauding investors. Read about it here - https://www.sec.gov/news/press-release/2018-223 - Harassment is allowed and a great tool to meet our unrealistic numbers. Shaming, blaming and singling out employees from their team are all allowed. This is the very definition of a hostel workplace. - Over the years leadership keeps getting younger and less experienced as the company grows. This is a good indicator of how messed up things have become at Upgrade. People with experience won't stay long, or will avoid this company altogether, leaving the young and ignorant to lead the way.

Pros

Free snacks & health benefits

Cons

This place is horrible and not somewhere to start a career, but only to receive a paycheck. There’s so much to say but all I can say is all the negative reviews on here about unrealistic goals, poor and inexperienced management and people being fired/quitting because of it, is true. All of the positive reviews are obviously written by management. It’s obvious, each negative review is followed by a positive one almost instantly. Quitting this place was the best decision I’ve made. I don’t even like to mention I ever worked here, it’s a shame the way they treat their employees. I don’t see this business being open longer than a year from today. Do yourself a favor and DONT work here, don’t let the perks drag you in. You can do better.

Pros

Good pay, free snacks, aesthetically pleasing work environment

Cons

Always overwhelmingly busy, management has the tendency to ignore subordinates, not handling the pandemic well is all I can say due to restrictions, management not standing up to investors and requesting work at home be mandatory during a pandemic. High turnover rate due to employees not being treated like actual people and more like robots who don’t need to eat, breathe, & have emotions when dealing with very serious and intense situations the job does bring with it in regards to customers and their real life problems. Management overall puts on a very performative display of seeming to care about their employees & using key words and phrases to give the illusion of actually caring. When confronted with real life issues, doctors notes, and other things management including HR makes it very difficult to get needs met and will let go of long term employees before making changes for employees they deem necessary. More or less if they can’t get sued within reason, they won’t think twice about denying any requests. When confronting supervisors about incorrect info they have provided they rarely hold themselves accountable & often times will bicker with their subordinates about how they should have known better regardless. Upgrade in all has great pay, good benefits, but terrible work culture, terrible employee support, & dishonest management.

As with any scaling company, growing pains are an inevitable part of the process. Our leadership team is comprised of first-time managers and those who have seasoned experience. Manager development is an important part of our organization and we have partnered with an external leadership consultant providing ongoing learning and coaching in addition to creating internal training to support these efforts. We realize we have more work to do in this area and we will continue to support the ongoing development of our leaders. Thank you for taking the time to share your specific feedback with us as it will help us continue to improve in this area.
