Pros

I was the first employee at UXDX, and my time there was very valuable for me. I could apply my skills in areas where I am strong and I also got chance to learn many new things. This experience helped me to improve my skills and to understand what is most important in work. UXDX also helped me to discover my passion and now I have started my own business doing what I love. Overall, UXDX is a place where you can grow, learn, and try new things.

Cons

When I first joined, it was a very young company and did not yet have a brand or customers yet, which sometimes could feel a bit daunting.

Pros

The job per se, is interesting and fun if you're into marketing. They promise the moon during the interview process but once in, it gets toxic very quickly. The owners are nice people- especially to the people they collaborate with outside the company- but working inside the company is a whole different ballgame.

Cons

It's chaotic, they are improvising as they go, they change objectives every day, and when one founding member says one thing the other says another, asks for changes and then blames you for not meeting deadlines. The company is terribly managed and they keep employees on their toes and feeling anxious. I write this review only to warn people as I do not recommend working there to anybody.

I'm sorry to see this update. I think the mismatch was in job expectations. In the interview process we did our best to highlight both the benefits of a small team (increased ownership and autonomy) as well as the associated challenges (increased accountability). It is a difficult challenge for people stepping up to a more senior role because it is hard to know what is required when you move into the role for the first time. It is a high uncertainty environment, which some people love and thrive in, and others do not. When outcomes were not being achieved, we recognised that you needed some help and we spent months working directly with you offering advice on how your could try to achieve your targets. I was genuinely surprised when you said in the exit interview that this advice felt like an attack because we were focusing on your area and not on others. Our preferred approach for all areas is to leave people working autonomously as we don't have capacity, or a desire, to micro-manage. Our advice was a genuine effort to help you succeed in the role. Looking back now, I recognise the mistake in dragging the support period on too long. At the 3 month mark I believe it was obvious to both sides that the role was not a fit but we thought we could help you turn it around. In hindsight this left you feeling micro-managed and anxious, and it was frustrating for us as outcomes did not improve. Finally, in terms of it being a bad place for everyone, we are a small team so we are not the best fit for everyone. If you are not comfortable with uncertainty and want to have clear activities to perform then larger companies with more specialised roles are a better fit. If you get excited by increased accountability and autonomy, are comfortable with the uncertainty this brings, and are happy to put in the work, then smaller teams are a better fit. Best of luck with your future career.

I’ve had such a great time working with UXDX! It’s been an amazing experience that’s really helped me learn and grow my skills in ways I didn’t expect. If you’re someone who loves learning quickly and taking the initiative to make things happen, UXDX is definitely the place to be.

Cons

It is a small team, so mistakes are made
