Pros

The product works. Only good thing I have to say at this point after looking back. The other team members are nice, but the company is disorganized and team culture is toxic from the top.

Cons

Not only did they fail to provide adequate comp plans for their employees after promising them for months, leadership made several decisions while I was there that bordered on completely unethical. There arecompanies with better ownership that won't fire you when your wife gets cancer.

Cool product, terrible management

Pros

Most staff are friendly and enjoy hanging out with each other, especially in the ATX office. Unlimited PTO policy is good, although it depends on your manager.

Cons

Upper management is incredibly shady, dishonest, manipulative, and self-righteous. They seem nice on the surface, but do not trust them under any circumstances. Take note of the six positive reviews made within two weeks of each other in 2022. That wasn't a coincidence. Their shady behavior goes much deeper, but this is a good example. While the initial product concept is cool, the company now lacks a vision. The CEO no longer seems passionate or interested in the company and has handed off most responsibility to someone who doesn't understand the product or the industry. They blame junior staff for the major issues at the company. This quarter they blamed poor sales numbers on two accounts executives quitting, even though our sales numbers have been poor for a while. No mention of how we target a new industry every few months, or that our marketing strategy for a year was to criticize consultants, then we spent months unsuccessfully trying to market to consultants as potential customers. Turnover is extremely high both from people quitting and getting laid off. There is no job security. They will fire you during training if they decide they do not like you. They will fire you after several years once they train someone for a lower salary. It seems like the company is hurting for money. Upper management believes that doing deep breathing exercises on all hands and the occasional virtual team bonding game will solve the toxic culture they create. If you enjoy the poor communication and chaos of a startup with the soulless culture of a large corporation, Transect may be the right fit for you.

Thank you for the feedback you provided; we sincerely appreciate it and see it as something that can help us to raise our bar. We try our best to live up to our founding mission of creating a place where people love to work, and so we were saddened to hear you haven’t had a positive experience. We hold ourselves to high standards, so are troubled to hear your opinion of the way the business is being run. We’re doing our best and realize it’s not always perfect for everyone. In response to your specific topics: - Our mission to demonstrate that nature and the built world can live in harmony has remained consistent since the founding of the company and our product vision is shared among all our current employees. - Back in 2022, one team that had been through a positive and bonding experience decided collectively to share Glassdoor reviews, this is something encouraged by Glassdoor. - Transect's growth continues to trend upwards quarter over quarter. We share this in our all hands company meetings every 2 weeks and so can’t comment on your observations here. Our stats put us in the top quartile of growth rates for A round businesses. - Our employees are anonymously surveyed on a monthly basis and our happiness rating score has been an average of 84% in the last twelve months. We take the survey feedback provided seriously and as a result we have launched fireside chats, increased sharing of internal survey results, and now do quarterly reviews. - We’ve hired over 30 people in the last 20 months and acknowledge that this has created a lot of change, particularly for those who’ve been with us for the longest, many of whom have grown with the company and have found new roles. - In the last 12 months we’re proud that our voluntary separation rate is 8% vs. industry standard of 14.5%, despite all the challenges that come with being a Series A startup. - Our CEO remains very active in driving our company's mission. As we have grown, she has naturally had to turn over many functions to our leadership team, but she promotes her open-door policy to all. - Unfortunately, as any growing company experiences, as we evolve there are occasional situations where the goals diverge from those of the employee, and it is determined that the best course of action is to part ways. - Our industry focus has been unchanged as renewables for over 24 months so unfortunately we can’t comment on your observation here. In conclusion, we hope you continue to advocate for culture anywhere you work. Please keep submitting ideas so we can grow together.
