Pros

None. None. None. None. None.

Cons

Department heads, Directors, Managers are steeped in extreme politics and love to exploit employees on a work visa. They will withhold and delay your work visa application indefinitely. They exploited by work visa status and threw me under the bus. Due to which I had to leave the country. Couple that with Lubbock where there's nothing to do and very low pay.

Pros

Autonomous work, company car. The role itself is great - helping HS seniors with apps, attending fun events, assisting with camps, etc.

Cons

A lot of weekend and night events, with no overtime pay. You're locked down for camp events in Lubbock all summer. If you take PTO during that time, it's frowned upon. Micromanagement. A lot of gossip and cliques among coworkers and management. High turnover in every region. Career growth would be slow if any at all. Micromanagement.

Great Benefits, Horrible Leadership

Pros

The benefits they offer are great. The atmosphere of working on a college campus is always pretty special. As a state employee you get access to lots of great discounts.

Cons

The university runs on a "this is how we've always done it" mantra at every level. There is a complete lack of vision, and new thoughts and ideas seem to be avoided like the plague. This leads to there seeming to be rampant disfunction at the top levels. Also be ready to navigate a political minefield.
