Pros

- Good daily pay -Plenty of jobs -If you are working extra hours for planning let TemPositions know so you can get paid fairly

Cons

-While it claims to offer benefits you would have to work everyday to qualify -If a company you are temping with wants to hire you away they have to pay a very hefty fee to TemPositions which might persuade them to go with another candidate -5:30AM/ 6:00AM calls -Many of the schools have huge discipline issues and not just because you are a substitute

Pros

Conveniently located 3 blocks from Grand Central Gorgeous view of midtown

Cons

If you like cheap labor want to work like a robot then this is the perfect place for you. I worked for School Professionals which is the Educational division of the company and where do I even start? How about from the beginning... I came in as a temp-to-hire employee and was assured that after 3 months I'd become full-time, especially by how fast I was learning. I was working 40 hours a week, getting paid hourly, and only eligible for the bare minimum of benefits which was honestly, nothing at all (which they lied to me about). The "extensive training program" was non-existent. They had no idea how to train this position and I was their guinnea pig. There was a mix of 8 people teaching me their own ways of doing things so my performance had many inconsistencies. My evaluations were poor and because I couldn't remember who taught me what, I was seemed a liar. Management did not seem to realize until after the fact and it led to them demoting me and not making me full-time. I was micromanaged and spoken to passive aggressively from others on my team. Now that I look back, the style of management was all the same. My job entailed micromanaging the substitutes from the moment they stepped into the interview room. They were treated so badly and VERY underpaid. Their values are inhumane.

Thank you for providing your feedback about your experience. We apologize about the apparent misinterpretation of our temp to hire policy and benefits program and that our processes did not satisfy your expectations. Temp-to-hire is a working arrangement in which an employee is hired on a temporary basis with the possibility is being hired permanently. A permanent position is not guaranteed as this is a temporary trial period to determine if the employee and employer are a good match. We can assure you that our teachers are greatly valued and are the foundation of our educational staffing service. Today, we employ more teachers than ever before and over 33% of our teachers have been with us for 2 years or more which is an anomaly in the temporary staffing world. In addition to this, for each of the last 3 years, our teachers’ positive feedback has earned our company the Best of Staffing Award for providing remarkable service quality. This distinction is awarded to fewer than 2% of all staffing agencies in the U.S, and Canada. We appreciate feedback and are always looking for ways to improve our service to ensure they meet the highest quality standards. Please feel free to contact us and we’d be happy to discuss your experience and feedback.
