Pros

I was a Java developer here for 6 years. Great for anyone who is looking for flexibility to work from home on occasion. Good pay. Ability to not do much and remain hidden.

Cons

Development used to be reasonably fast moving but over the last few years it's ground to a halt. Infighting between managers means projects are started and stopped. Top priority projects that require weekend work are scrapped. Teams are required to have 60% offshore developers. Many onshore devs end up doing training offshore Infosys teams in Bangalore and Mumbai who develop most of the code while the onshore people fix issues and do support and gather requirements. Most tech is stale, many teams using subversion, lots of SOAP/XML. Lots of initiatives to try to move the tech into this decade but there are too many anchors, both legacy systems and people to allow it to happen. The good developers leave. If you are looking for innovation it's probably not the place to be but if your an average java or frontend dev looking to maintain a steady job it's pretty good.

Pros

Cant list the as i was there for just 1 month

Cons

I had a very short stint with Telstra Pune and I would like to share the unprofessional behavior of India (Pune) management here. I just worked here for a month but because of some Personal and health issues (4 hours travel a day) I decided to leave the company in a month and the way they handled this was very very unprofessional. --The moment I put my resignation (properly giving notice period) I was called by the Manager and he said its very unprofessional to put a resignation mail without discussing with your manager. I know its better to talk to the manager first but in this case I know there is nothing he can do to solve my travel/health issues. - the very next moment he started shouting at me and there are the exact words spoken by a manager who called me unprofessional . " your resignation is accepted and we are releaving you right now. you can submit the laptop and GET OUT from here right now. i dont want to see you here" i maintained my calmness and said sorry if something bothered you so much for which he said. "just give you token and Latop and go. Do no dare to give this companies name for background verification as I will make sure you will get a Red mark and you are blacklisted from telstra . Now just go" -- I was shocked by this reaction since even I have around 10 years of exp and never expected such behavior from a super senior guy. -- I took this matter to the HR and she said I do not know what happened in the conference room but I will talk to the manager and I am damn sure nothing happened after that. --I left the company the very day and then after 2 days I got a call from the HR saying we are cutting you 14 days salary (during probation they have a 2 week notice which I was ready to give) since you didnt serve the notice period. I said I was ready to serve the notice but you guys decided to leave me on the same day . how can you cut my salary for that. She said there is a clause in the offer letter and we can do that . I felt cheap arguing on a 12 day salary stuff with the HR (even though for me its a big amount) and decided to leave the issue. --Even after putting a proper resignation mail and giving proper notice to the company they decided to humiliate me , cut my salary and threatening me on background verification and Blacklisting. Just one question , who behaved in a unprofessional way in this whole situation ?

Pros

The entry level graduates will be smart guys who will make most sense to you.

Cons

1. The mid level managers / scrum masters/ leads will mostly be from IT companies like Infy, Wipro etc. who will screw your life. 2. The flexible work timing is fading away fast. 3. You will be judged based on the amount of time you spend in office rather than quality work that you do. 4. If you are joining as a graduate, you may be getting good salary as compared to the employees of the vendor companies of Telstra. They will be jealous of you for this reason all the time. 5. The higher management just won't care about the entry level guys. The mid level managers will be the guys with ultimate source of truth to them. 6. You will be a "graduate" for 3 years if you join this company straight out of college.
