Pros

The people that you work with are wonderful. Your colleagues will help you learn the ropes and navigate the culture.

Cons

The recent positive reviews are the result of HR adding the requirement for employees who are lucky enough to land a promotion to write a positive review on glassdoor or for new hires. Please disregard these. The leadership of this company is detrimental. They go from idea to idea without ever concretely testing out any new initiative or giving the team an inkling as to why new initiatives are being put into place. The salary is much lower than one can get with only a high school diploma. You can use this company as a stepping stone, but beware that other publishing companies are aware of T&F's reputation. The turnover rate is evident and is a result of poor management, leadership and salary. If you are working in the US, be knowledgeable that your UK colleagues have off the entire week of Christmas plus 30 days vacation/holiday. You will be lucky to have 13 days and you must use these if you would like a Christmas holiday. You will have to use sick days for all appointments, while the UK colleagues may leave early and still be paid in full for any appointment without any penalties. The UK is also the headquarters and have the most say, you will notice in most meetings that the US is not asked for any input but the UK will lead all meetings and workloads. Yet T&F is attempting to reach US markets. UK colleagues will be sent to all US conferences, but if your portfolio has a conference in Europe, you will not be sent. Your work is secondary to that in the UK.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback. I am sorry your experience with Taylor & Francis did not align with our goal to be a positive, enriching place to work. We are taking your feedback under consideration, as we take all employee voiced issues seriously. I’d like to directly address a few issues you’ve noted, that of the US benefits package, travel, and review submissions. Taylor & Francis is a UK based company with international presence, with offices in over a dozen countries worldwide. We have listened to colleague concerns and offer enhanced benefits for our US based colleagues - including 15 PTO days starting, with growth beyond 25 days over time to match that of UK based colleagues, 10 sick days, 2 floating holidays, 9 recognized federal holidays, 2 volunteer days, flexible work start times, and remote work options so that our people can build a healthy work-life balance. Some colleagues get the chance to travel both nationally and internationally, depending on location, availability, and event needs. If you are unsure of your benefits or opportunities within the company, we encourage you to speak with your HR representative. HR does not require employees to submit a Glassdoor or any other external review.
