Pros

Working atmosphere, the team was brilliant and super hardworking. Benefits you get working in an art gallery: pension, free entry everywhere-else (museums and galleries) in the UK.

Cons

Super low pay, very poor career progression schemes, awful high level management, very corporate for a charity

Awful

Pros

It's a big organisation and they offer a lot of training opportunities to staff, as well as staff discounts and free entry to exhibitions (before Covid - now they have banned staff from going in for free).

Cons

Pathetic HR department, completely self-interested with no regard whatsoever for employees. Senior staff gets to rule over more junior staff, in a rude and demotivating way.

Pros

- Working alongside a great collection and exhibitions is very rewarding. - Free entry to other museums and galleries. - Tate brand attracts interesting and creative colleagues.

Cons

- Sadly a management culture of mistrust and bullying exists at Tate. Dignity and Respect policy does nothing to actually tackle the issue only ticks boxes for management. - Often overworked, micro-managed and staff concerns ignored. - High turnover of staff. - Very poor pay in comparison to comparable jobs in the culture sector. With 4 years of pay freezes, pay has fallen 20% in real terms. No recognition for dedicated staff, low team moral and virtually no career opportunities.
