Pros

Great technology good work-life balance. Great coworkers.

Cons

Very divisive culture. Lots of passive aggressive undertones and finger-pointing. Pays on the lower end of the spectrum unless you're in sales. Not the startup it once was.

Pros

- i have friendly co-workers - there is a friday "Happy Hour" - the problems we solve are interesting (please don't talk about the book) - there are well defined team processes - there are lunch and learn talks and limited pro-d budget

Cons

- there are overly complex solutions to problems, and some of the codebase just hurts - tasktop is totally unsure how to scale development and focuses on the wrong areas - despite thinking otherwise, product department executes a waterfall planning process, and panics when certain customer requests come in - the pay is only okay (even after late 2019 salary adjustments) - our upper management has no idea how to acknowledge mistakes or actually listen to employee feedback - the department structure is poor for organization size - you either work on legacy technologies or more modern services written by developers who dont really have micro-services as a core competency, and most have left the company. it is very slow and difficult to change the status quo

Tasktop Response
6y
In response to our employees’ feedback we have recently started to present our quarterly NPS results at our company wide all-hands meeting. We take this opportunity to share feedback received as well as speak to the changes we have made in response to past surveys. We are very excited about the opportunities our CEO, Dr. Mik Kersten’s book Project to Product has brought to Tasktop. We also believe it is important for our team to have the right resources to understand the core concepts of our direction and one of the ways we do this is through giving a book to each of our employees. As we have outlined in a previous response, the architecture of our codebase will always be an ongoing journey since we believe in continuous architectural improvements. We are proud of the improvements that we made in 2019 -- and through those improvements have recognized the importance of having the initiation, design and implementation of these activities much more of an inclusive rather than top-down activity. We have restructured and worked on changing our culture in order to support a broad base of input from all levels and teams - we look forward to seeing many additional successes in 2020 due to these changes. We are always happy to see the positive feedback about our people!
