Cons
Can be stressful sometimes when other people call sick
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Decently flexible for students who want part time work - you have to fulfill a minimum of 11-16 hours according to the contract and 20+ hours during Christmas and full time in the summer Nearly free food and Christmas vouchers
Cons
Managers treat most workers with little to no respect. They will shout at people for any mistakes and don't mind embarrassing people in front of others. If you are looking to get minimal recognition like a "good job" for being a hard worker, you won't find it here. Management will pressure you to extend your shift. Long hours. It's typical to expect to work 8-10 hours a day. Sometimes 11. Their "premium" for Sunday pay isn't much at all. Expect to be paid the legal minimum wage. Even though your contract says full time is 36 hours, expect to work 40-50 hours a week. 60-70 hours during race week Nepotism is common. Expect to be working alongside new employees who management goes out for drink with. Expect to do work that is physically strenuous. Expect to deal with exceptionally rude customers who you still have to serve. Management doesn't back you up. Ageism is common. It's mostly directed towards young people. You have to deal with harsh chemicals with no specialised gloves. All of these negatives are exacerbated when an inspector comes around.
