Cons
ICs expecting to make a difference should look far away. The code base is abysmal. That alone has made people leave in their first 90 days. But the real issue is that everyone here is playing cut throat politics, and promotions are a zero sum game. If you are not getting promoted, you are getting fired, If you want to be promoted, you need to make sure someone else gets fired. That is the game everyone here is playing. Do not trust anyone. If one of your teammates gets fired, someone on your team will also get a promotion. If half of your team gets fired, your manager gets a promotion. As an IC, you need to be fully prepared to step over your manager and go a level higher to get things done. If you go directly to your manager with big results, they will claim it as their own and convince their superiors you're actually an under performer. I am not exaggerating when I say hirings and firings both happen every quarter and are typically announced a week apart.
