Pros

Somewhat decent salary. Flexibility to work on your own schedule.

Cons

A highly toxic work environment driven by fear and people-pleasing. The culture revolves around impressing the CEO at all costs, often at the expense of employee wellbeing, autonomy, and healthy collaboration. Leadership is aggressive and intimidating. The CEO regularly pressures employees for more output through harassment rather than support, creating an atmosphere where burnout is normalised. Questioning decisions, especially around the unchecked use of AI, is not welcome and can put your position at risk. Despite constant talk of wanting “A-list players,” there is no real investment in people. If you don’t immediately fit a very narrow definition of success, you are quickly pushed out. Employees can be let go abruptly, with little warning or meaningful feedback. There is no HR department to act as a safeguard when lines are crossed, leaving employees without protection. Ironically, the work itself could be excellent. With proper leadership and structure, this could be a genuinely great place to grow. Unfortunately, it is run by the wrong hands. I would strongly discourage anyone seeking a healthy, sustainable role in AI or marketing from joining Single Grain. Your talent, ideas, and time are far more valuable elsewhere.

All Lies - Stay Far Away, Company is Crumbling

Pros

The largest pro I can think of is if you run into good people here. Flex scheduling is also nice.

Cons

Lies about the total number of employees, there are about 10 or so. CEO spews nonsense to those looking for an agency, as well as those who are currently employed. He doesn't care about his employees, as long as his agenda is followed. He is hard to get ahold of, and if you do - it's like he is waiting to move onto his next task. No loyalty. People are let go frequently and the CEO talks a big game, but it falls flat. I wouldn't be surprised if the company folds. They are holding onto clients by a string. Don't get trapped in the lies. RUN VERY FAST. You deserve better.

Existential crisis

Pros

Remote work, great benefits, good mix of interesting clients, no meetings on Fridays rule, managers are encouraging, everyone wants to learn, teamwork is great and working on clients really is a team effort

Cons

Management is leaving constantly so it's hard to get any type of consistent leadership or training if you need it. Client communications use so many different CMS and restricted document access that it's really a headache, especially after other employees leave. Ditto on the reviews of the CEO being delusional. He would send update videos every Friday telling us that this isn't the place for us unless we're giving 110% and always going above and beyond, and you'd start your weekend feeling like you don't deserve to be employed by anyone. It was soul crushing.

Single Grain Response

I appreciate your review and wanted to thank you for helping Single Grain grow as a company. Regarding the pros, we do our best to help our team members grow both personally and professionally. That's not to say we are perfect -- your feedback is well received and we are now working on continuing to improve the company. I apologize if you felt like my communication on our core values was harsh -- we do have high expectations for our team members and it is my job to keep us aligned and moving in the same direction. Some people don't necessarily want to work hard, and that is completely fine! But at Single Grain, we want to help people level up to become the best version of themselves so they do great work wherever they end up going long term.
